CABIN REDUX
Residential Renovation & Addition
Caledon, Canada | In Progress
Inspired by the play between the natural and unnatural, Cabin Redux is an evolution of an existing log cabin enveloped in a new contemporary architecture. The aesthetic is defined by celebrating the existing logs and introducing a contrasting vertical motif with the new iridescent cladding, connected beneath the “waterline” of a new overarching roof.
EXTERIOR MATERIAL PALETTE
The new form is rotated to frame views from the escarpment south to the city skyline and lake Ontario.
Key horizontal datums establish a consistent hierarchy of materials. A restrained palette pairing neutralized existing timber and new wood wall panels, with grey, honed terrazzo floors, is punctuated by pops of unexpected and unnatural colour.
