A newly constructed ultramodern building deviates from the familiar suburban box mall typology along the TransCanada Highway in Moncton, New Brunswick. The conventional somber medical building is reimagined as an integrated two-storey commercial office and retail experience that reveres health and wellness.

The design orients around an inner courtyard, with 11,400 sf accommodating a pharmacy, three medical offices, a large-format lounge and café, shipping facility and a technical compounding facility. Air recovery is facilitated through the building's double-height interior garden, naturally oxygenating the space throughout, while automated colour-tuning lights appease the eye through the Maritimes' cold, dark winters.

The open-concept layout allows for fluid circulation between public areas that are well delineated from private consultation spaces. Visual continuity is expressed through layers of curvilinear and rectilinear geometric forms that echo one another, extruding from the ceiling and lighting above to fixtures below. Materials fold seamlessly into one another around a biophilic-centred design to deliver a contemporary apothecary of its time.
